Diana Santi - Director & Producer
Diana Santi started her career in the movie industry in 1999 with an Italian Production Company “Building Productions”, working as production assistant and assistant director on several video music and TV commercials (Yacht Riva, Galotti Real Estate, Adozioni a distanza). In 2002 she wrote and directed her first short movie Lady Goal. The short movie was immediately a success in Italy and was selected to participate in several important film festivals such as Lenora – Inventa un Film, Premio DAMS , Cinema al Bar, Ultracorti Roma. In addition, this short movie was bought by UISP Sport, the national Sport foundation, to represent and promote Female Soccer in Italy. In 2003, Diana received a grant from the Comune di Campi Bisenzio – Florence, to shoot her second short movie Chiedilo al Vento, which won the second prize at the Meno di 30 Film Festival, the Jury Prize at Maurizio Poggiali Film Festival and made it to the famous Enzimi Selection 2005/06. The movie has been selected by several film festivals in Italy such as: Cortorino 2003, Novara Film Festival and Premio Dams 2003. During the same year, Diana graduated in Film Studies at the Università di Bologna, Maxima cum Laude. In 2004 Diana moved to Los Angeles where she attended the New York Film Academy at the Universal Studios obtaining a diploma in Filmmaking. With her final thesis film One More Time she was nominated to the final round of several prestigious film festivals around the world: NYU Fresh looks!, Premio DAMS, NextGen TV Festival, Sony Film Festival, Tiscali Video Film Festival, Novara Film Festival, Reggio Film Festival, Cittadella del Corto International Film Festival and at Cinema Art(Fr). Since 2005, Diana has been specializing in television commercials. She worked as first assistant director for several Italian national commercials, such as Citi Financials, Riso Gallo, Per Sempre and Vino Tavernello, to name a few. Currently she is the Overseas Programs Director for the New York Film Academy where her major duties and responsibilities are: liaison with the Italian Film Industry (Cinecittá, Gruppo Mediaset, Panavision, Euro Lab) including establishing contacts with top Italian Film Directors and Actors; top representative in Italy for NYFA in charge of marketing, public relations including press events and national media, in charge of budgeting and programs scheduling; scouted, negotiated, secured locations; developed key contacts with city administrators and vendors in Italy, responsible for film equipment procurement (Film Cameras, Light Packages, Macs, etc) in support of the Italian Film Programs. In 2010 Diana produced and directed the “Capacity is Development” campaign for the United Nations Development Program, which included a 30 second commercial and four 5 minutes documentaries. Diana is an Italian citizen currently living in New York City under the status of Permanent Residence for the United States.In August 2011 Diana directed a 15 minutes short comedy titled “Florence in Love” with the support of the Tuscan Film Commission and the City of Florence.
Giuseppe De Angelis’ education experiences in filmmaking were formally over in July 2000, when he graduated from the ‘Civic school of Cinema’ in Milan (Italy), with a Diploma in Film Editing. Since then he’s been working on almost any sort of film and video products: feature films, short films, documentaries, cartoons, tv programs, promos, commercials, news, etc…mostly as editor.
He worked for three years at ‘Rumblefish s.r.l.’, a production and post-production company in Milan where he worked as assistant editor of feature films, such as “Honolulu Baby” by Maurizio Nichetti, editor of various short films; editor of TV programs for MTV South Feed, drama, cartoons such as “CoccoBill”; promos, corporate videos for SONY group and documentaries for RAI channels. He’s been full time employed at the Murdoch’s big network ‘SKY Italia’, writing, editing specials, epk, backstage items and film news for Sky Cinema channels. In 2005/2006 he produced and directed two short films: “Enemy Closer” and “Midday Room” in Los Angeles, both of them were very well-regarded by International Film Festivals.
In 2009 he moved in New York to work as producer and editor of independent documentaries, commercials, feature films, short films and institutional films for clients like UNDP, UNFPA, Young Love Productions and MPG. He is also currently working as film editing instructor at ‘New York Film Academy‘s branches in New York, Rome, Florence and Abu Dhabi (UAE).
Leonardo Osello – Director of Photography
Leonardo Osello was born in Florence on December 7, 1969. Leonardo is fluent in English and has an extensive experience in English speaking countries. His carrier begun in 1988 as Camera Assistant (loader & focus puller). From 1999 Leonardo moved on his career as Camera Operator and Director of Photography for TV Commercials, Documentaries, Feature Films, Music Videos. The latest Commercials and Feature Films that Leonardo worked on as camera operator are: Rover, Toyota, Volvo, Fiat, Subaru, Alfa Romeo, Parmigiano Reggiano, Ferrero, Danone, Foppapedretti, Guinness, Coca Cola, Valfrutta, Jvc, Perugina, Tim, Fastweb, Vodafon and ”LOST BOYS: The Thirst” for Warner Premier. Leonardo collected many awards in his career such as: Honourable mention at the Philadelphia Film, Film in exhibition at Museum of Modern Art of New York, The Mobius Advertising Awards – Illinois (USA), Short List “International Advertising Festival – Cannes”. Lorenzo Grasso was born in Florence on October 27, 1976. He graduated in in Psychology – University “La Sapienza”, Rome. Lorenzo is fluent in English and has an extensive experience in English speaking countries. His carrier begun in 2003 as 2nd A.D. of BUONGIORNO, NOTTE (feature by M. Bellocchio) followed by several other feature films in the role of 1st A.D. such as TAXI LOVERS (feature by L. di Fiore, GIOVANNI FALCONE”(tv movie by A. e A. Frazzi), SCAVICCHI! (feature by R.Drudi, CI STA UN FRANCESE, UN INGLESE E …”(feature by E. Tartaglia), QUO VADIS, BABY? (tv series by G. Chiesa), until LA PRIMA COSA BELLA” (feature by P. Virzì) Italian selection for the Academy Awards 2009. In 2010 Lorenzo is the 1st A.D. of many different projects such as AMARO AMORE (feature by F. Henderson Pepe), and 2011 I PIU’ GRANDI DI TUTTI”(feature by C. Virzì ). Lorenzo was a key member for the Florence in Love crazy crew!
The Italian film composer Saverio Rapezzi has degrees in Composition, Classical Guitar and Guitar teaching; he studied with the famous composer Azio Corghi at the Royal Philarmonic Academy of Bologne and he specialized in film music with renowned film music composers such as Ennio Morricone, Luis Bacalov, Michael Riessler and receiving the prestigious Film Scoring Certificate of the University of California, Los Angeles. His music is also frequently commissioned by important festivals and associations and performed by remarkable musicians. In 2005 he won the 1st prize at the “International Music Competition” of Cortemilia (Italy) with his “Sonatina for clarinet and piano.”
Saverio also studied guitar with remarkable guitarists like Flavio Cucchi, Alberto Ponce, Alirio Diaz and others. As guitarist, he has won prizes in numerous musical competitions, and he has a fervent and multifaceted activity as a concert performer for many prestigious musical institutions in Italy and Europe.
Jennifer Norton – Casting Director & Acting Coach
Jennifer Norton entered the world of Storytelling first as a young painter, then as an actress, a director, and most recently as a filmmaker. Jennifer forged her career in NYC, after graduating from NYU, TSOA, with a degree in Drama, a minor in Directing. She’s had the privilege of studying with Scoot Zigler at The Atlantic Theatre, as well as with Deloss Brown and Louis Scheider of The Shakespeare Studio. She was part of the original cast of Karen Malpede’s Greek tragedy project ‘Kassandra’ in the role of Achilles.
Soon after graduating she joined the Murray Hill Players where she began directing; she quickly co-founded the off-off Broadway theatre company The Actor’s Circle of New York, with whom she had the honor of performing at the Corcoran Museum in Washington D.C., as well as for the New York Historical Society where she was part of the original cast of ‘Eleanor & Alice” starring as First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt. Over the years she parleyed her skills and broadened her horizons to include professional work not only as an Actress, but also as a Director and a Producer, for not only theatre, but also for film and television.While producing the Domani Vision Film Festival, she also Executive Produced the first edition of the 5×5 New York State of Mind DV Project. Around that time, she also began working in documentary film production with Lovett Productions, as well as commercial production with Todd Broder of B3 Pictures. Along the way, Yoga and Journaling have always been essential parts of Jennifer’s creative practice.Currently, Jen resides in Florence, Italy, where she operates her video production company Apple & Olive; an award winning short-film production company specializing in web publicity and corporate documentaries. She is a Founding Member, Actress and Director for London’s “In The Gutter Productions” and “Springboard Arts”; as well as a Collaborating Artist for Florence’s “Performance International” with whom she joined the TAA and managed the Association’s 2008 “Election Night Event” at Saschal. Her most recent short film ‘Corpo Giusto’ is currently making its way around the international festival circuit. When she is not acting or directing, she spends her professional time editing, writing, working as an internationals acting coach.
Mario Castagnaro – 2nd Assistant Director
Born and raised in Florence, Italy, award-winning producer Mario Castegnaro began his filmmaking career by founding the production company Apple & Olive. Mario has scored amongst the top 95% of Apple Certified FCP Editors in the world. His outstanding efforts in documentary video-making quickly led to work opportunities for both private corporations and public authorities. Over the past few years Mario has been responsible for producing over 30 shorts ranging in genre from fiction to publicity. The short doc IL TRIPPAIO TOUR OF FLORENCE, starring Michael Bernosky, won the First Place Our Stage Award in 2008; the narrative short THE FIX premiered at the FIFF and was a Finalist at the MOKA Film Festival in 2010; and his most recent production, CORPO GIUSTO, is currently Touring the internationa festival circuit. Currently he is in production with a major publicity campaign for CONAD grocerys; in addition to collaborating with H Productions of MIlan, in service of the Comune di Firenze and the Mayor’s Office, he is also in preproduction with several international companies including Wonderland Entertainment, Voxon, and Bani srl.
Alberto “Abi” Battocchi, graduated as sound engineer after attending a EU-sponsored professional training course in 2002, works as a live audio technician (both FOH and on stage) and as a boom operator for feature films and documentaries. His most recent films include “The First Beautiful Thing” by Paolo Virzì, “Eaters” by Marco Ristori and Luca Boni and “I Più Grandi di Tutti” by Carlo Virzì. Nato a Firenze nel 1974, si è formato presso l’Istituto d’Arte di Firenze e acquisito esperienza in numerosi campi della decorazione e del restauro. Queste esperienze lo hanno portato a conoscere il mondo dello spettacolo entrandone a farne parte per puro caso. Apportando le sue esperienze in un mondo a lui nuovo, ma che ha saputo affrontare con rinnovato curiosità. Nel 2009, per la Poker Entertainment presso Cinecittà ha curato le Scenografie per il Film L’Ultimo Ultras, con Stefano Calvagna, Mattia Sbragia, Francesca Antonelli, Mauro Megoni, Rossella Infanti, per la regia di Stefano Calvagna. Sempre nel 2009 per la Joker Film ha collaborato in qualità di scenografo per lo spettacolo teatrale Incastrati nella rete con Stefano Calvagna, Giorgio Gobbi, per la regia di Stefano Calvagna. Con Calvagna inoltre, ha lavorato anche per le scenografie del pilot Rai Cuori Sparsi, con Massimo Bonetti.
